Grave of Louis Pierce and Mildred Pierce

This photo is that of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, a prominent Italian-American religious sister in the catholic church. This Catholic Sister, born in 1850 founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The organization provided services to the poor in 15 nations. During her lifetime, Cabrini established over 60 schools and orphanages. She migrated to the state in 1887 from Italy. She became an American citizen in 1909. After her death, her order started a campaign for sainthood. The Vatican canonized her as a saint in 1946.

She is the “Patron Saint of Immigrants” named by the Vatican in 1950.

Her photo adorns the graves of Louis A Pierce 1895 to 1977 and his wife Mildred C Adamic Pierce 1903 to 1982.
