Woodcraft Women: Guardians of Memory Since 1891

By

Lorena Curtis, Women of Woodcraft

WOW! Women of Woodcraft, the female auxiliary branch of Woodmen of the World.

I believe this is the first time spotting one of these stones for women, and there were a few in this cemetery.

Women of Woodcraft started in 1891 to serve the women in the”mystic circle”; it was a fraternal order that allowed members to have policies on death. The policies would provide headstones in the beginning, and though the main company is still in business, it has entirely evolved and no longer covers these magnificent stones, much like the Woodmen beautifully done stones.

What a beautiful gravestone this is!
