In 1880 Doctor S.B. Wright lost most of his children to a diphtheria outbreak, 2 children having already passed before this, Willis M and Frank O. The online article states the 4 of the children he had all passed away within weeks of one another in 1880. He would follow a short 4 years later leaving behind the only 1 remaining child possibly. The mother was not listed in this family plot or in this cemetery and it is possible she passed before they came to Colorado. I am not sure what her name or information was. I could not tie the dates to anything and am led to believe that she may be listed in Iowa. Before coming to Colorado, a child, Willis M Wright passed away in Iowa around 1862 according to an online grave profile.
Here are the family members buried in this family plot.
The Father;
Dr. S. B Wright November 2, 1833 to September 10th, 1884
The Children;
Frank O Wright January 31st, 1864 to September 5th, 1870,
Jerry S Wright January 22nd, 1866 to June 18th 1880,
Nellie B Wright May 29th, 1970 to May 14th, 1880,
Lizzie S Wright December 3rd, 1872 to May 20th, 1880,
Mattie E Wright July 23rd, 1876 to May 23rd, 1880

The father and 5 or 6 of the children are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs with this headstone. Not on the large stone is one for Dollie, unknown dates and profile. This stone is located with the children’s graves, so unsure if another child or the mother. Not all of them on the large stone had a small foot stone, Mattie was not in these other stones.
One remaining child was listed as Charles H Wright who passed away in 1929 in California according to the same online profile information. I can’t verify this information though.
Rest in peace Wright Family. You are thought of today.
