Over 135 years ago, Catherine Humphreys died of pneumonia. She was 33 years old. Born on December 21st in 1855 and died on May 21st, 1889.
Due to a telegram error her services were not as planned, The Reverend Koyle was set to do her graveside services but did not receive the notice. She was buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Canon City, Colorado.

The stone that is used for her grave is a White Bronze “Zinker”. I have done a few stories about this type of headstone. The mail order stone would have been ordered and likely installed by the family when it was received. One of the biggest problems with these “stones” over the years are the failure of the bolts and attachments. The panel was either stolen or simply fell off and may be buried nearby from erosion and time.

I encourage you to look at my other Zinc grave markers. They can be found on my social media accounts or my blog at notforgottencolorado.blog “Zinkies” have a history all to their own.
