Beulah Cemetery, Beulah Colorado

This cemetery is my favorite kind to visit. Small and in the woods. Quiet and beautiful, sun barely peeking around the whispering trees. Beulah is always such a lovely place to visit. We were in the area and discovered where the cemetery was tucked back in the woods and stopped in for a visit. Evidence of wild turkeys is a wonderful sign of the experience too come.

Wild turkeys. Lots of them up the road!

Beulah Cemetery is in Pueblo county, on the edge of the Wet Mountains. Beulah has one of the best mountain parks I’ve ever seen before. I recommend visiting there in early spring or summer. Stunning. When you ask where I want to live, the answer has been Beulah since the 90s. Beautiful. Simply beautiful. This is where I run on “Zillow” dreams, every time.

First buried in cemetery, Mary Sease.

The cemetery is a resting place for over 700 souls. Mary Sease was the first to be buried there in 1869. Her online grave profile mentions tuberculosis. Tuberculosis was called Consumption due to the fact that it consumed everything. Devastatingly took entire villages without a hitch. Hopefully the illness didn’t cause too much devastation.

Vera Belle Bicford

The next burial was a few years later in 1872. A virtual visit to the cemetery sorted by oldest dates first takes you on a journey of discovery in history. This one was exemplary. Many of the graves from the 1800s are in this video.

What a solemn and quiet place to rest. Thank you for the visit.

p.s. Need to waste some time? Visit a cemetery virtually and read the stories in the profiles.
