‘Our baby,
John A.
Died Mar. 31, 1897
Aged 3 ms. 27 ds.
Son of R.M.C. and B.A. Brown’
Hillside, Colorado, San Isabel View Cemetery.
This was the only Brown surname in the Cemetery. Could have just been a traveler, or a family that left the area to work at the mines. No other family is listed as buried there. It seems many residents of the Hillside area left to work in mines nearby and far away.

So many children are in cemeteries for the late 1800s and early 1900s throughout the region. This would be the 10th grave, including the undated burial of Leggett in the cemetery. Although there are multiple unknown graves also, most cemeteries have unknowns that are lost to time. Stones break, weather and erosion change and bury stones. This cemetery is working on making the unknowns with steel crosses and making great progress at preservation.
Rest easy little one.
