Doyel Edward ‘Ed” Green and Sarah B Green

He has no birth or death dates, only years. He was born in 1926.

I did find an obituary for her, She was born on August 8, 1926 and passed away on January 20, 2015. Her services were held in Fountain, Colorado at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary.

This monument has always held my attention when visiting this cemetery. I remember it being placed there in 1995 or 1996 (If I remember correctly). I know it was a few years from the date on the plaque for Doyel. I only remember his plaque being there at that time. Years later I noticed it had her name on there too.

Front view, this is a replica of the famous “End of the Trail” Statue.

The beauty of it along the roadside of the cemetery was hard to miss. As you drive the road next to the cemetery, this is in a plot midway down, against the road.

Back then, I saw this as a symbol of him, walking a path and finding the end at peace. Now years later, I see this as a tale of struggle in loss. I interpret this as her loss, her end of a trail. The end of their story.

This one will always leave me wanting to know more, but. also leaving me secretly wishing to keep the mystery of it alive. They are not forgotten today. Rest easy, both of you.

*Disclaimer – I’m not a historian, scholar or writer. I aim to honor and remember all the souls and landmarks I encounter in my explorations. Sharing these helps to keep their memory from fading away. I do my best to find information and I’m always open to edits and corrections when needed. I would never post anything incorrectly with harmful intent. Cemeteries are full of stories, sometimes I can find them, sometimes I can’t.

Be respectful if visiting any of the places I share. These places won’t be around forever, especially if not treated with the utmost in respect. Other than picking up obvious trash, we do not alter any of the gravesites we visit. Please keep in mind that some trinkets are left as honor, not disrespect.
